Extracting Alderney

  In order to be able to use Alderney, you need to extract it from this application program.  To accomplish this, simply choose Extract Alderney… from the FILE menu and you will be presented with a dialog box which allows you to specify where and under what name to save the Alderney font file (the little suitcases).

  Once you have chosen the appropriate name and location for the Alderney font file, click on the Save button, and a window will appear informing you that Alderney is being extracted.  If all goes well, a dialog box will shortly appear telling you that Alderney was successfully extracted.  A file that contains the Alderney font proper will have been created on the disk you specified.  This file is a standard Font/DA Mover file, so you simply use the Font/DA Mover to install Alderney (see the Alderney User’s Manual for details).  That’s all there is to it!

  You may be curious as to why this extra, seemingly unnecessary step was implemented.  It was an effort to keep the documentation, program, and font all in one neat package so that each user who receives Alderney gets a complete package, and so that our Shareware notice is kept intact.  So please do not distribute the font alone—this would be depriving users of a complete package and us of fair returns.
